  1. < ![CDATA[I bounced off of D&D about a dozen times in the span of 2001-2004. Several of my friends were into it, and when my Vampire group started to split up, I kept trying to take solace in this other game… but none of my instincts worked. The game was so tactical, so gamist, that every character I made was just an awful, worthless mess.
    I finally managed on a strategy where I could play a character I liked AND still function in a quasi-competitive combat game (Sorcerer/Rogue multiclass and ultimately an Arcane Trickster with CHA out the wazoo and the Leadership feat) but my DM didn’t like the way my hordes of contacts and underlings impacted the flow of the game so he kept finding ways to put me in scenarios where they couldn’t help me.]]>

  2. < ![CDATA[Ah, 3/3.5... the way in which you could see who played RAW vs. didn't. I had tried to host weekly one shots with the explicit info that it would be RAW and mostly combat based. Folks showed up, "I've been playing for two years", and didn't know anything about how AoOs worked or 5 foot steps.]]>
