Whaaaaaaat? The Riftwar Saga was one of my favorite series back in high school and this could be effing awsome if it’s done right.
Or if it’s not… it could end up like that MTV Shannara travesty.
Feist is involved and has said no to a lot of people until he found the right fit… so here’s hoping this fantastic series is given the justice it deserves. (crosses fingers)

I tried reading them in university and failed. Maybe I was too old already, or maybe it’s just not quite my style.

Yeah, I thought they were great when I was 14. Tried to read them again at 25 and… well. [smiling poo emoji]

Jeff Dee So you’ve not read any David Eddings, then? 😁
The Empire Trilogy he did with Janny Wurts are pretty awesome. Those are about the folks on the other side of the rift. I couldn’t read too much of his solo stuff beyond that timeline.
I tried to read one of these on vacation once. Bailed out about fifty pages in.
I don’t remember anything from it except that there’s this weird writing tic that Feist has where everyone is grinning all the time. a true-to-the-original graphic novel would be unsettling, with all those teeth.

I encountered Magician very young, and they remain a guilty pleasure: my critical faculties just turn off (although that gets harder… some bits are very thin). I’ve taken a lot of shit for that pleasure!

I have to confess that I’ve had more than a few CRPG thieves named Jimmy ‘the Hand’ and Wizards named Milamber.
That’s fine, we all have things we like and don’t like. Personally I had to force myself to get through Dune because I thought it was one of the driest and most boring books I’d ever read in my life.
