I’m with John Gruber on the NYT op-ed: “The more I think about this piece, the more angry I get. Fuck this person. Stand up and say this under your own name.”

Your service in government is valuable. Thank you for it. But it is not so indispensable that it can compensate for the continuing tenure of a president you believe to be amoral, untruthful, irrational, antidemocratic, unpatriotic, and dangerous. Previous generations of Americans have sacrificed fortunes, health, and lives to serve the country. You are asked only to tell the truth aloud and with your name attached.

The GOP is the party of the craven, cowardly shithead. It is the Wormtongue party.

  1. Make no mistake, what the anonymous author is talking about is a coup. They decided to ignore the Constitutional remedy for the problems they saw, took advantage of Trump’s stupidity and are now actively taking the reins of government out of the hands of the person elected (rightfully or wrongly) President.

You don’t get brownie points for staging a behind the scenes coup.

  3. I’ve seen this piece being circulated and, while I agree with it, I wish people would amplify pundits other than David Frum who are making this same point. The Atlantic lends their legitimacy to the piece and that makes it easy to share. But let’s stop giving Frum the Resistance tongue-bath.

  5. Yeah I was partway through that and thinking, “This sounds like David Frum” and then saw his face at the end. It was the bit about how Woodward’s book was dangerous and undercutting to stability or some bullshit.
