  1. I suspect the causality is ..complicated. It could be that there are some factors in the other direction—for instance: racist violence is a fringe interest (speaking broadly) that leads to more online-only conversation; or, that racism drives people to talk more to culturally similar contacts, instead of the (more diverse) pool of people around them.

    Having said that, I don’t doubt the Overton window-moving effects of bots and propaganda.
