Oh, quick #FamilyMovieNight catch-up. A couple of weeks ago my son and I had a boy’s weekend, and we watched Toy Story 2 and 3 on successive nights.

I am ashamed to admit that I had never seen them before. Honest.

That said, they are now two of my favorite Pixar films. 2‘s ending had me on the edge of my seat, and 3‘s ending had me almost bawling my eyes out.

I saw on IMDB that 4 is in the works, and I did a little happy dance in my head.

  1. Toy Story 3 is outstanding. I was nearly crying by the end, but I was secretly hoping the incinerator would be the end of it. (I mean, that’s the real resting place of our toys, right?) Even just having that moment in the film gave me joy because they were ballsy enough to provide that amount of horrific tension. Good stuff.

I’m less excited in Toys Story 4 just because I’ve kinda sorta been following its production. Rashida Jones was originally involved in co-writing the film, but she and her partner ended up leaving due to the Pixar boys club stuff. I don’t doubt that an amazing film may come out of all of this, but it’s definitely done some damage to my interest.

  3. I don’t think I’ve seen any of the Toy Story movies. Not even the first. I’ve also not seen The Lion King or Aladdin.

But I think the first priority is to make sure my son has seen The Incredibles before we go see the sequel.
