It’s hard for me to coax my son into honestly talking about feelings and stuff, or admitting mistakes – because it means I have to do that too. I’ve found myself making comments like this, and then realized it and apologized.
Aaron Griffin Yes, my son is a little past 3 years old. I think we’re at a point where we’d say things like this, so I want to be conscious of not doing so.
I’m lucky that I was raised as a “sensitive guy”, so I am usually pretty good about talking about feelings. I can only hope I pass that on.
I’ve been on the receiving end of something like this at a game with friends many years ago and I can still recall the sensation of being scraped out from the inside it gave me.
Every time I feel bad applying principles of animal behavior to raising kids I feel a little weird. Then people post this and it’s kind of surprising how similar they are to each other.
