Sheesh. This is third hardcover in a row I’ve bought from DTRPG that has a crooked binding. They need to talk to Lightning Source.
(It’s Stars Without Number revised, fyi.)

That’s super annoying! Is it the third of the same book?
PoD smh
Alex Hakobian First for this. Twice in a row for the previous book. With that, I ended up going softcover, and even that was just okay.
I’m tempted to just ask for a refund and then do my own print via Lulu.
Many of my Lulu HCs look like this as well.
Every hardback I have from them is like that. Traveller is so bad that when it opens the spine arches from top to bottom.
I only buy softcovers from them anymore unless it’s a Kickstarter and I don’t have a choice.
Victor Wyatt Yeah, for the last book I bought from them I opted for softcover after two awful HC printings. Unfortunately, SWNR is only available in HC, as far as I know.
I have mentioned the problem to creators when they were deciding what format to print in. Some have opted to do both formats but most just stick with hardback.
The problem is that SO many people want pod still. I get asked to put a hardcover Veil out fairly regularly. DrivethruRPG doesn’t do hardcovers of graphic novels so it’s not even possible, but people really seem to think it’s the best option for them, depending on where they are in the world. The only PoD I’ve gotten that I was like “wow” was Alas for the Awful Sea, and that’s because it’s not colour. Space Wurm vs Moonicorn is gorgeous, but even my premium copy, as pretty as it is, is not comparable to off set colours and blacks. Nevermind the binding issues.

Fraser Simons People want POD? All I want is the book; I don’t care how it gets produced.
I’ve bought plenty of HCs form DTRPG, and it’s only in the last few months that there’s been this binding issue. Sure, they were never as nice as true offset prints, but they were at least correctly made.

Yeah a lot of people, surprisingly. I don’t really get it because ordering Drivethru products to Canada is extremely expensive. I do one bulk order a year basically and that’s it. Despite us having the off set run available though, they still want a PoD option (preferably hardcover).
Fraser Simons That’s wacky!
Mhm, I don’t get it. Haha
Wacky is the technical term for it, sure.
