Hey, I finally watched Rogue One! I’m home sick and figured I’d better catch up.
Couple things:
1. K2SO is the freaking best.
2. I am now officially madly in love with Felicity Jones. I want, like, ten more SW films with her in them. Alas…
3. This is the first SW film that made me hate war; I think that says something important about all of the other SW films.
4. Speaking of which, if there was any SW film that made me think Rebellion = ISIS, Empire = US, it’s this one.
5. In all seriousness, I think this is the best SW film.
5a. No, I’m not kidding. Two words: ACTUAL STAKES.
6. CGI-Tarkin and -Leia were kind of creepy.
1. Yes, totally love K2SO.
2. Rogue One prequels? Jyn Erso at the Edge of the Empire, Jyn Erso and the Jedi Temple etc.
6. Yeah – I hope they just recast roles with new actors in the future – the CGI characters are creepy and distracting.

I thought the CG actors were just passable enough for me to not break me out of the suspended disbelief state required for such movies… A couple more years of work on the tech and I can imagine not even noticing.

Agreed that this is the best Star Wars films. It’s why I’m afraid to re-watch it, since I’m afraid my opinion might change.
Meanwhile, a coworker of mine has watched it at least 10 times since it appeared on Netflix. Apparently holds up to repeated viewings.

Hey I watched it last night, too. I’m not a big SW fan, so I haven’t seen the latest one with Kylo Ren, but I did enjoy this. It didn’t feel very Star Wars-y. I was a little irritated by the “I am one with the Force” mantra, but otherwise it was fun.
When are the making Rogue Two?
Aaron Griffin Strangely enough, it felt very Star-Wars-y to me, despite being very un-so in a lot of other ways.
Chris S I’m honestly tempted to rewatch it right now.
I’m at re-watch count 4!
It’s easily my fav SW movie.
For real, R1 firmed up how to run a Star Wars rpg for me.
Paul Beakley I give them credit for finding a non-Skywalker-infested corner of the galaxy in which there was an interesting story to tell. The WotC SW games I played sucked at that.
Also: the Rebellion is interesting to me. Other SW stuff, not so much.
I read that the leads in the film signed multi-film contracts, partially due to the fact that the ending of the film was still a little bit up in the air during production. (I believe that there was a version of the script in which at least two characters survived.) Personally, if Felicity Jones is spotted on the set of the Han Solo film, that’s the only way I’m going to spend money seeing it.
Yeah, I’d much prefer new stories about new characters. I don’t really need Young Han Solo Adventures or whatever.

Yeah gimme some stories about Saw Gerrera, or Chirrut and Baze!!
MadJay Brown There are more Saw Gerrara stories on The Clone Wars and Rebels.
The Clone Wars and Rebels.]]>
MadJay Brown I have no clue who any of those characters are, but yeah!
“I don’t know who you’re talking about even though they were in the movie I just saw that I said I love best of all SW movies.”

Matt Wilson In all seriousness, K2SO was the only name that stuck in my head while watching. Even “Jyn” took a while to stick.
Huh. I guess I should re-watch this sometime because it sounds like you all watched a different movie from me! I REALLY wanted to like it and I’m glad you all did. I will get it watched again!
Like, the male co-lead, the rebel captain? No clue what his name was.
Delsing I’m not trying to tell you how to live your life but obvs you haven’t watched this movie enough times. You’re at like 250 millimadjays, and that’s a low score.
Matt Wilson Millijay depletion is obviously part of the head cold I’m fighting today. I’ll hop on Amazon and order some supplements.
Yeeahhhh!
Matt Wilson Literally re-watching right now with subtitles on. I already learned the bad guy is named Krennic!
Aside: does Bail Organa serve any other purpose beyond making fans go, “Ooh, it’s Bail Organa”?
Every rebel, zealot or outsider PC I play from now on will be modeled on Saw Gererra!
Mark Delsing Since it’s the same guy who portrayed Bail Organa in the prequel films, it serves the purpose of saying that the prequels are still valid and connected to what is being released today.
MadJay Brown MORE LIES
Rogue One is everything I want Star Wars to be. Jedi work better when they’re rare or in the background.
I’m really looking forward to the Adventures of Han Solo. It was probably my favourite Star Wars book. I hope they make it as good as Rogue One.
