Mark Delsing I think Poser is a culprit also. Using 3d figure for reference creates some pretty wooden looking characters.

It’s possible to make some pretty amazing stuff in Poser. (I dabble with it now and then, but am not that great.) That being said, yeah. Bad CGI character is is rather icky. That raises the question of which is better though, bad art or no art.
