The Great Gloranthan Read of 2017 has completely and utterly failed. It was going okay, then Gameday prep happened, and then I was just losing focus, and now I’m doing a superhero thing with a friend that has me reading old Champions books, which in turn has me eyeing my third edition Mutants & Masterminds PDFs, and then today I was trying to figure out how much it would cost to get a good copy of DC Heroes.

No wonder I have photos of giant piles of unread RPGs to post every few months. I have met the enemy, and they is me.

  1. Wait, I thought this was a meeting of Gamer’s ADD ANONYMOUS!! We’re giving our names out now? Okay, sure, I’m in… 😉

I have Blades in The Dark and Age of Rebellion (FFG Star Wars) looking at me right now…

  3. I’m feeling a sense of accomplishment, rather than the usual gamer ADD blues, as both of my games went well this weekend, and one was a playtest for the Tekumel game I am designing. All Sunday though was spent paging through Predation – when I wasn’t mowing!

  5. I have been on a mini-RQ read as I’ve started to play a sandboxy Big rubble game with my son. I have deliberately limited myself to RQ2 and only the core book, cults of prax and big rubble itself (Pavis is going to be a safe zone in this game, the adventures are meant to be railroady anyway). There will be no accumulated lore, if it is not in those books we’ll make it up at the table. But even that has nearly defeated me.
I just want the map, a character sheet with prompts and a few random tables. Plus the editing in the RQ2 core book is ad hoc, at least by modern standards.

  7. For me, it’s confluence of whether I’m getting ready for actual gaming as opposed to reading them or fun, and my age-old complaint that it takes me so long to read most games that by the time I’m done I am totally sick of them and want something else.

Aside: a lot of game texts, especially newer ones, are really freaking long.
