I love how I will spend three or four days agonizing over spending (in the end) less than $50 on a Wirecutter-recommended mouse and keyboard for work that I know I will use for six hours a day for the next two years…
But RPGs/Kickstarter?
“Woah, a new dungeon crawly game where I can play an elf? Shit bro, I only have ten of those!” PLEDGE.
My priorities are messed up.
We need to start some kind of AA offshoot here… I’m trying to get on the bandwagon too…
OMG THERE’S A NEW ONE? LINK PLEASE
Man Aaron Griffin beat me to it. I was totally going to scream and post in all caps about why are you holding out on me give me link to elf kickstarter.
I’m honestly a little scared to count the number of dungeon-crawly elf games I own.
Brand Robins I AM A LEVEL 8 SCREAMER
Friends don’t let friends buy more GURPS.
Fight it, Mark. We’re here for you!
If you price your elf dungeon kickstarter right, you only need to sell one copy. Just make sure Delsing knows about it.
Matt Wilson ha…that reminds me of the Shut up and Sit down review for Food Court Magnate…”We only managed to sell a single egg sandwich…but it was for $11,000″
There are some people you just can’t save, Paul Beakley.

Right there with you, Mr. D.
So, next I start wondering.. why is that the way of it? (I’m confident you’re not the only person who has reactions/priorities of such a configuration.) Is it the implication of scarcity with a KS? The way we approach shopping for a new piece of tech and that we are being.. hm.. critical-minded in our selection process & know we might not like whatever thing we’re seeking? (Both. It’s both. And so much more.)
Hmhm hmm.
I’m pretty sure this is all a rhetorical question. I enjoy thinking about the whhhhhy.
(I love that your comparison is to a Wirecutter-recommended bit of tech. I appreciate Wirecutter and reference them often.)

Andi Carrison Wirecutter is the best!
I think it’s partly that the tech was for work, whereas games are crack-like fun. There’s definitely a scarcity/FOMO aspect to KS, too.
I need a $10 USB-C cable. But I’ve backed $[REDACTED] worth of Kickstarter projects.
And yes, Wirecutter is good stuff.
