Just finished Stranger Things and have to say it’s basically perfect. It does the homage thing and yet accomplishes so much more. I am 100% satisfied.
(There’s also so much about the Byers that reminds me of my own family — that and all of Hopper’s family story had me blubbering like a baby at the end.)
There were so many “I remember that” moments. It’s startling, given how young the showrunners are.
Yeah, that was some of the most perfect entertainment I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Great stuff, and nostalgia alike.
(And, of course, I kept thinking “I need to build a world like this for my game.)
I love how even my daughters 17, and 12 loved it to bits, even though none of the nostalgia hit home with them.
I’m feeling a strong urge to watch Goonies and read a bunch of Stephen King novels.

The title was chosen in part because it looked good in the Stephen King paperback cover font.
