I love sleek home designs like this, but why is it that they always feature stairs and railings with no safety features whatsoever. No way I would let this little girl wander around this home, even supervised, much less an adult who was not in seriously good shape.
Reminds of a beautiful home in France I once saw that used these Bond-villain-esque moving platforms. “So pretty, and a great way for someone to get crushed to death.”
Not only no rails but those stairs are wicked-steep.
On that note though: our house does have rails but we also have tiled staircases. We didn’t put gates top/bottom and that horrified friends and family! The kiddo took some tumbles but it was very educational, and she got houseproofed way way faster than any of her peers.
My little brother still walks his son (turning 4 next month) by hand up/down our murderstairs, to the detriment of the kid I think. They’re surprisingly durable little monsters.

Hey now. My kid is awesome, permanent scars and all.
Kid: “Who’s that girl with the scar, she’s…”
Other Kid: “Dude, do not fuck with her.”
Kid: “I’m not, I just…”
Other Kid: “OH GOD SHE’S COMING THIS WAY SEE YA”
Kid:”…?…”
She for real has a tiny little scar through her left eyebrow (stair fall), and she got stitches on the back of her head from banging the shit out of it on our bed’s footboard.
Educational!
