My pursuit of D&D 5e AP videos continues with good ol’ Mike Mearls running ToEE for some of the WotC staff.

The nice thing about this video is that it’s competent people playing the game well, with enjoyable banter but minimal tomfoolery. The downside is that a solid game of D&D isn’t exactly riveting viewing, and the production is pretty no-frills.

I’d really love to see a game — any game, really — where production, performance, and skill are equally on display, but I have a feeling that’s like asking for $100 bills to drop from he sky.

  1. Dave Turner yup. From what I’ve watched, I get the impression that some videos are just people “roleplaying”, not really playing 5e, or whatever game. Which is fine if they’re great entertainers, but that doesn’t usually seem to be the case.
