I’m ashamed to admit that, despite the actual RPG’ing here being pretty loosey-goosey, I had a hell of a lot more fun watching this than I have the other 5e AP videos I’ve found so far.

And, well… Ashley Johnson.

  1. Robert Bohl He was pretty funny. He’s playing a deliberately annoying character — the oddball of the group — so I guess that fits him?

The real reason to watch this is Utkarsh Ambudkar, though. He’s a riot. And for what this is, Matthew Mercer is actually a good DM; he allows room for them to be funny, but he cuts scenes really hard. They get though more in twenty minutes than the Missclicks get through in three hours. And his voice acting is great.

  3. I don’t always agree with Mercer’s rules rulings on Critical Role, but it’s honestly their home game made public so I can’t fault him too much. Regardless, I love his ability to build a scene, and his voice acting is superb.

  5. < ![CDATA[Mark Delsing I very much enjoyed Hitch. I like seeing new players (pretty sure he hasn't played before) fall into the game quickly. Background in comedy/improv/acting probably helps a ton.]]>

  6. < ![CDATA[Jason Ambrose Yeah, the performance and pacing outweighs any RPG shortcomings for me. Shooting for one or the other is fine — it's the middle ground that frustrates me.]]>
