My first delivery from the RuneQuest Classic KS arrived today. Suck it MadJay Brown! The physical quality of these books is amazing (especially the leatherette copy of RQ*), and I want to point out that these books were packed better than almost any shipment I have ever received from an RPG publisher. I was worried that some of the rain we’ve been having would ruin the books if they ended up sitting on my porch at all, but honestly you could have dunked the box in a bathtub and the books would have been fine.

I am loving the new Chaosium.

* Yeah, so now I own four copies of RQ2, two old and two new. Sue me.

  1. Trolling but not really: Now how much hot Runequest actual play action do you have lined up?

The not-really-trolling part: I’ve had RQ in my orbit for so long that I feel like I should try to play sometime and really dig into The Glorantha Experience. But I’ve already owned and sold the big ostentatious Guide to Glorantha, so…I dunno.

Pendragon felt like the rules and themes and setting were integrated in a way that I can’t suss out when it comes to Runequest. Stafford’s presence feels less important.

  3. Actual play? Who has time for that? Hopefully someday.

I’m no expert, but I feel like you don’t need the GtG, especially for old-school RQ2 play. People played the hell out of RQ back in the day with nothing but Cults of Prax.

I get the impression that Pengragon is more Stafford’s baby than RQ. Sounds like the new edition (coming by GenCon?) will be pretty heavily Pendragon influenced.
