  1. Montreal has a thriving geek community and a bunch of videogame companies (these feed into each other, believe me), but yeah, the language barrier is a bit of a problem (less so on the island of Montreal, especially the west island). Plus the weather is often terrible.

    BC is hella expensive.

I remember reading years back about Toyota debating between opening a new plant in Toronto or South Carolina.  SC offered them 5 years of no taxes if they opened up there.  Toyota did the math and realized it would cost more to train US workers up to standard than it would cost to train high school graduates in Canada, even with the 5 years tax free counted in…
