Other than my fabulous writing? 😀
I like that it’s clear that you are fairly normal people fighting the monsters with all that that entails. You can be hurt, broken even. But it’s not as bleak as some systems where even fighting the horror is useless. These are people trying to make a difference and sometimes succeeding.
I was invited to do something for it. The game is not my style. It’s pretty traditional, hard-core, and that’s not my bag anymore.
I will say that the book makes a real attempt to be inclusive of people and while it’s trad, it’s not the most-evil trad I’ve ever seen. There aren’t, for example, multiple sections where it’s stridently insisting the GM has the last say.
I just remembered one mechanic I really do like, though: The tokens. There are tokens that have light and dark sides, and sometimes dice rolls automatically flip them, but sometimes you can flip them for doing something advantageous or disadvantageous.
All that said, I am finding things to be excited about in it, and getting ideas for a horror story that will be pretty fun and interesting.
Isn’t Chill a game from the 80s that you had to order from an ad in Dragon?
The version we are currently working on is 3rd edition. Growling Door Games, Inc. Licenses it now. You can get a copy here. http://growlingdoorgames.com/chill.html

Also, I should clarify the above. I wasn’t “invited*” as in Matt asked me if I’d like to do it. I’m a part of IGDN and he asked the group if anyone would like to work on it, and I said yes in time.
One of the benefits of the Network!
* That was ludicrously braggy of me.

I love some of the original Pacesetter adventures for Chill. They featured fantastic covers, and some iconic horror settings. I still treasure them.

I am also only just learning the system. There may be stuff that gets me even more excited further on.
