Favourite idea for merging two games into one
Honestly, I’ve got nothing for this; I can’t say I’ve ever done it. Instead, let me direct you to the classic article from The Strategic Review #5, “Sturmgeschutz and Sorcery, or How Effective is a Panzerfaust Against a Troll, Heinz?” (which starts on page 3).
Mine is still “The Riddle of Steal Away Jordan”
Alex Mayo It was in Best of Dragon, Vol 1 I believe. That’s where I first read it.

I seem to recall the other day you were talking about using one system’s initiative rules in a different game. Doesn’t that count?
Michael Miller I dunno. Folks were telling me that those were “hacks”. I’m assuming the topic wants something like running D&D characters though a Gamma World adventure (or vice-versa), or smoothing all of the WoD games together.

Thank you for posting this! It was one of my favorite articles/scenarios when I was a kid. Brought back many good memories.
Mark, I reread the whole scenario and I was wondering–is the D&D they are using here OD&D? Or just straight-up Chainmail? Which are maybe the same combat system, I’m not sure.
Brian Wille it says “Regular D&D rules were used” in the text, and the opening of the issue mentions Blackmoor just going off to print, so I’m assuming it’s OD&D. Since they give ACs and stuff, I’m guessing maybe Greyhawk is in play?
I have a weird memory of reading an account of this where it started off as a game of Tractics where the referee sprung fantasy opponents on the players as a surprise. I want to say it was in Best of Dragon, Vol 1, but it would be weird for both that account and this one to coexist. I’m probably conflating some old memories.
